Abby Canucks forward Linus Karlsson, with 27 games of NHL regular season and two games of Stanley Cup playoff experience under his belt, scored the overtime game winner for Abbotsford against Colorado on Wednesday night in Game-3 of the Calder Cup best-of-five Pacific Division finals.
The Canucks came from behind twice before eventually winning at the 18:47 mark of the extra session to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
The real hero was Abbotsford goaltender Arturs Silovs, who turned away 35 of the 37 shots he faced, including a couple of golden opportunities for the Eagles in OT.
22-year-old, right-shot defenceman Victor Mancini, acquired from the New York Rangers this past season in the J.T. Miller trade, scored his second goal of the playoffs to tie the game 1-1 in the 1st period.
After falling behind again in the second period, the Canucks picked up the equalizer midway through the third when Max Sasson lit the lamp with his third goal of the playoffs.
Sasson played 29 games for Vancouver this past season.
Game-4 is Friday night with puck drop a little after 6 pm pacific. Abbotsford will look to close out the series and face the winner of the Texas vs. Milwaukee Central Division battle.
Game-5 is Monday if necessary.
