The Canucks can put a serious dent in the hopes and dreams of the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night at Rogers Arena. After losing head-to-head to the Calgary Flames on Friday night, the team chasing them in the standings, the Wild find themselves in a tenuous position, sharing a wildcat spot with the St. Louis blues in the Western Conference with 93 points.
The Flames have 90 points and a game-in-hand on both clubs.
A loss against the Canucks for the Wild means they no longer control their own destiny. Calgary could jump into a spot automatically by winning their final three games.
Vancouver has been out of the playoffs since last weekend. With no pressure, it sets up nicely for a team in a spoiler role.
No muss, no fuss, play loose, take care of business.
The non-playoff Seattle Kraken are in the exact same position down the road on Saturday night against the St. Louis Blues, a wild card team with same points, same record, and just the two games remaining.
The Flames will be watching with baited breath both games, while Vancouver can have some fun.
