… and his visit fast approaches. Ex-Canucks coach Travis Green, who ran the Vancouver bench from the start of the 2017-’18 season until December of 2021, has the Ottawa Senators on a hot streak. They’re 6-1-and-1 in the month of December and have won four games in a row.
There’s some business to take care of for both clubs before Saturday night’s meeting at Rogers Arena. The Senators visit the Calgary Flames on Thursday night while the Canucks will be finishing up their quick back-to-back roadie in Vegas.
Come the weekend the spotlight will be a large one. It’ll be the late game on Hockey Night in Canada and will be ‘Greeners’ first time back to Vancouver as an NHL head coach. He visited last season as an associate coach with the New Jersey Devils.
Being the head man is a whole different animal, and with Green finally taking over an NHL club for the first time since being dismissed on December 5th, 2021, let’s just say “there will be money on the board”. The three-year anniversary of his firing was exactly two weeks ago.
The Senators did not start the season well. That’s changed. The young roster is surging. The Canucks will have their hands full against a club with added motivation. Saturday night is must watch TV, if you can’t get a ticket.
