Canucks Win 2-0, Double Whammy Homecoming

A returning Bruins forward and a hometown boy each scored for the Canucks on Tuesday night in Boston as Vancouver extended its road winning streak to eight games with a 2-0 victory.

Jake DeBrusk, who spent the first seven years of his NHL career with the Bruins before signing with the Canucks this past off-season, scored the game winner at 5:53 of the 2nd period by backhanding home a loose puck.

Local boy Conor Garland, who grew up in the “south shore” community of Scituate, Massachusetts, put the game out of reach with an empty-netter.

Vancouver goalie Kevin Lankinen is now 8-and-0 on the road this season following the 32-shot shut-out.

It sets up the Canucks for a potential milestone win in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.

They’d be considered heavy favourites, even on a back-to-back set, to beat the lackluster Penguins, which would tie the Vancouver franchise record for most consecutive wins on the road.

The club has games in hand on all of the other Pacific Division contenders, sitting in 3rd place with an 11-6-and-3 record and 25 points.
