Boeser Injured
The Canucks wrapped up a three-game road sweep in California with a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night. Vancouver captain Quinn Hughes scored a goal and added an assist; the 87th multi-point game of his career. He now has seven points over his last six games.
Conor Garland was credited with a first period goal that Kings goalie Darcy Kuemper swiped into his own net, while winger Jake DeBrusk scored for the third consecutive game for the Canucks; his first three goals of the season.
Garland’s goal came during a five-minute power play, one that came following a match penalty to Tanner Jeannot at the 10:44 mark for a head hit on Canucks winger Brock Boeser. Boeser didn’t return to the game.
J.T. Miller added an empty netter.
The win completes a three-game road winning streak against the NHL’s California franchises, with the Canucks having defeated the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night 3-2 and then the Anaheim Ducks 5-1 on Tuesday. It’s the first time Vancouver has swept a California-only road trip in 15 tries as a franchise.
Vancouver goalie Kevin Lankinen remains undefeated in regulation this season, improving his record to 7-0-and-2. He’s 2-and-0 in his career against Los Angeles, a team that entered this game tied for first place in the Pacific Division with 19 points.
The Canucks have the better winning percentage having played three less games than LA, while moving within two points of both the Kings and the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas plays the Kraken in Seattle on Friday night.
